How marketplaces link stealth stores via product photo EXIF data and perceptual hashes (pHash)

Amazon, eBay, and Etsy compute perceptual image hashes (dHash/pHash) and inspect EXIF metadata (camera serial number, GPS coordinates, Adobe Photoshop Document IDs) on every uploaded product photo. Strip all EXIF tags and apply a 2% crop + micro-contrast shift before reusing images across stealth stores.
"A client came to me after losing 4 Etsy shops in a row. He had clean proxies, separate LLCs, and separate AdsPower profiles—but he was uploading the exact same JPEG files exported from the same Canva/Photoshop folder. Etsy matched the perceptual image hashes in seconds."
Copy-Paste Python Script to Sanitize Product Photos
Run this lightweight Python script using Pillow to strip 100% of hidden EXIF metadata, alter pixel perceptual hashes imperceptibly, and output a fresh image safe for upload on a second AdsPower store profile:
from PIL import Image, ImageEnhance
import random
def sanitize_product_image(input_path, output_path):
img = Image.open(input_path).convert("RGB")
w, h = img.size
# 1. Micro-crop 2% from edges to break perceptual hash (pHash/dHash)
crop_px = max(2, int(min(w, h) * 0.02))
img = img.crop((crop_px, crop_px, w - crop_px, h - crop_px)).resize((w, h), Image.LANCZOS)
# 2. Shift brightness & contrast by 1.5% (invisible to human eye, new SHA256/pHash)
img = ImageEnhance.Brightness(img).enhance(random.uniform(0.985, 1.015))
img = ImageEnhance.Contrast(img).enhance(random.uniform(0.985, 1.015))
# 3. Save without any EXIF or ICC profile metadata
img.save(output_path, "JPEG", quality=94, optimize=True)
print(f"Sanitized clean image saved to {output_path}")
Lock your profile's OS version and hardware parameters permanently upon creation. Changing a profile's GPU or screen resolution mid-life looks suspicious to anti-fraud systems.
